- Undergraduate Admission
- Applicants must be enrolled in the first year of a recognized undergraduate degree program in India.

- Parental Income
- Annual family income should be less than ₹4.5 lakh. Students whose parents earn more than this limit are not eligible.
- Residence (Domicile)
- Applicants must have a valid residence certificate from any state in NER.
Ineligible Categories for Ishan Uday Scholarship
The following students are not eligible:
- Those pursuing courses through Open Universities.
- Students receiving scholarships under other schemes.

- Students pursuing diploma courses that do not lead to a degree.

Selection Process for Ishan Uday Scholarship
The selection is based on state-wise merit from among eligible candidates who apply entirely online.
In case of a tie, the following criteria are used for shortlisting:
- Class X Marks: Higher scores will be given preference.
- Age: If Class X marks are equal then candidates with higher age will be given preference.
